Over £14.8 Million In Refunds… Is There Money Owing To You?
After talks with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Brighthouse has said they will pay over £14.8 million (in the form of cash payments and balance adjustments) to 249,000 customers, as they admit to lending to those who may not have been able to afford their payments.
Brighthouse (a trading name of Caversham Finance Limited) is a high street, rent-to-own firm which mainly provides household goods to customers on hire purchase agreements. Brighthouse was identified by the FCA because they often lend to those who are in financial difficulty who might struggle to repay the goods they have purchased.
Brighthouse has been treating some of their customers unfairly and their processes fell short of FCA expectations.
